What moves the number
- Depth. Per storm pricing on the same chart starts at $30 – $100 for the first 6 inches and adds about $30 for each further 6 (HomeGuide).
- How the visits are counted. A seasonal contract caps them; past the cap, ask what each extra visit costs.
- What is included. Salt is priced separately at $20 – $65 an application, and sidewalk shoveling is hand work at $25 – $75 an hour (HomeGuide).
- The winter. Detroit Metro Airport, the nearest station with a long record, averages 45 inches, but that is an average of very different winters (the weather service’s normals). A flat seasonal price does not change with it.
Questions
Will I be charged for the visit?
- Calling us costs nothing. Some contractors charge to come out and look at the job. Ask before they come, and get the price in writing.
